Yuvraj Singh Parmar: A Real Struggle Turned into a Business
Yuvraj Singh Parmar, a 28-year-old from the small village of Ranada in Bharuch district, never expected his life to take the turn it did. Growing up in a rural area where opportunities were few, Yuvraj, like many, thought a good education would be his way out. After finishing his 12th grade, he enrolled in a B.A. course, but after two years, he dropped out.
It wasn’t until he heard about a JCB course through VIVEC, a vocational training center that things started to change. He didn’t have any plans to get into machinery work, but the idea of learning a skill that could get him a job was appealing. He signed up and, after completing the course, felt ready to try his hand at something new. But there was a catch: he needed a backhoe machine to actually make money, and machines like that don’t come cheap.
For someone from a small village with limited financial resources, buying a backhoe was a huge hurdle. Yuvraj didn’t have enough savings, so he borrowed Rs 3 lakh from a friend for the down payment. With the rest of the money taken as a loan, he now had a machine and a mountain of debt. The pressure was on, as he had to pay Rs 65,000 a month in EMI for the machine.
At first, things weren’t easy. The machine had to be maintained regularly, and it took time to find enough work. Yuvraj took on whatever jobs he could—digging land, leveling fields, and working at construction sites.
On average, he earned around Rs 45,000 a month from operating the backhoe. Now after two and a half years, Yuvraj has built a steady business. He’s still paying off his loan, but he’s been able to handle the payments consistently. He’s even managed to save a bit and is now thinking about upgrading his equipment. His business has grown to the point where he has a handful of regular clients, and the work is no longer a struggle to find.
When Yuvraj looks back on how far he’s come, it’s clear that there were no shortcuts. The journey was filled with hard work. But what started as a small gamble with borrowed money has turned into a reliable business. Yuvraj isn’t a millionaire, but he’s making a living doing something he never thought he would be doing.
His story isn’t about overcoming impossible odds or facing huge challenges head-on; it’s just about taking one step at a time, even when things don’t seem ideal. It’s about making the best of what you have and keeping at it, even when you don’t know if it’ll all work out.
