Hidayatbai Kasam

Nurturing Health, Nourishing Future
During a visit to Moto Udo village, the Mobile Medical Unit (MMU) of Shroffs Foundation Trust conducted a routine health checkup for pregnant women. Among the patients was Hidayatbai Kasam, a 28-year-old woman who was five months pregnant. Upon examination, her hemoglobin (Hb) level was found to be 9.8 g/dL, indicating mild anemia, a condition that can lead to fatigue, dizziness, and complications during pregnancy.
Dr. Prashant Patel advised her on the importance of iron-rich foods, including green leafy vegetables, lentils, jaggery, and nuts. The social worker of MMU provided a structured nutrition plan tailored to improve her iron intake and overall health. She was also counseled on maintaining proper hydration and consuming vitamin C-rich foods to enhance iron absorption.
During a follow-up visit, Hidayatbai’s hemoglobin level had improved to 11.2 g/dL, showing significant progress. She reported feeling more energetic and was better prepared for the rest of her pregnancy.
This case shows the importance of regular antenatal care and nutritional guidance in preventing complications.
Thanks to the MMU team’s efforts, Hidayatbai was able to improve her health, ensuring a safer pregnancy and better outcomes for both her and her baby.
